This necklace is a totally unique piece unlike any that you are ever likely to find except at Mermaid Pearls. We hand selected a few giant golden South Sea pearls and asked the best weaver of coconut husk fiber pearl jewelry that we know of to weave some necklaces around them. This necklace was designed so that the pearl is encapsulated in a woven basket thus eliminating the need to drill or glue the pearl as is normally the case with most pearl jewelry. The pearl is a 14-15mm naturally golden color South Sea pearl which many consider to be the Queen of Pearls. There is no doubt that South Sea pearls command the highest prices…and for good reason – they are spectacular. Additionally since Tahitian weavers seldom get their hands on South Sea pearls it is uncommon to find traditional Tahitian weaving done using South Sea pearls. This necklace measures 16 inches and is an ideal length for a woman. The necklace fastens at the back using the traditional interlocking double-loop design typical of this style.
