This wonderful cultured freshwater pearl bracelet offers a mix of all natural colors and sizes ranging from 8.5mm to more than 13mm. This 7.75 inch bracelet is a bit larger than the standard 7 inch length, offering a bit more room. The clasp is a sterling silver spring ring clasp. This is a bracelet that looks great on. Since our goal was to keep this bracelet priced well below $500, upon close examination you will find some birthmarks on the larger pearls but we don’t think they take away from the overall effect that the bracelet creates. In fact there are those who actually like pearls that aren’t perfect as they are obviously real, not fake like so many “pearl-look-alike” items on the market.
Cultured freshwater pearls are distinctly different from their cultured saltwater “cousins” in that they are composed almost entirely of nacre, the calcium-carbonate material that mollusks lay down on the inside of their shells or to encapsulate foreign bodies which gives rise to pearl formation. Cultured saltwater pearls generally have only a millimeter to two of nacre coated around a shell bead. This difference makes freshwater pearls more durable and, compared with some saltwater pearls with especially thin nacre, more beautiful. Freshwater pearls, for the price, can’t be beat. |
