This attractive freshwater pearl necklace is amazingly versatile, working equally well with casual or dressy outfits. The black leather cord comes from Greece and is of the highest quality. The high-quality 10.5 to 11.5mm cultured freshwater pearl is flanked by two sterling silver rondelles with knots on either side. The pearl itself is predominantly gray with very subtle bluish and sometimes aubergine (purplish) overtone giving it the look of a typical Tahitian pearl. The mother-of-pearl cabochon clasp comes from the black-lipped oyster which perfectly complements the color of the pearl.
Freshwater pearls are appreciated for being composed entirely of nacre. Unlike cultured saltwater pearls, there is no bead nucleus in these cultured freshwater pearls which not only gives them superior durability and lasting beauty, but also creates beautiful, long-lasting luster.
